Born in New Castle, New Hampshire^{[Source 62]};
Listed as son of Henry (#203) & Mary Locke in one Source [Source 130] - an obvious error.
Married on 25 January 1748, Rye, New Hampshire. Abbie: born Nov. 7, 1726, Rye; daughter of Captain Jos. & Salome (WHITE) (married about 1703). She was from Dover, New Hampshire. Settled in the center of town and built the first tavern there at 595 Washington Rd., opposite the head of Central Rd. He sold it in 1756 to Ben Simon and Peter Garland for 2426 lbs. One Source states that he moved to Dover shortly thereafter, but he was still in Rye in 1776.
He was living in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1790^{[Source Census]}.
In a census taken by Holbrook, he voted in favor of the Revolution.
Was a Rye selectman in 1755 and 1756.
Source 129 lists him as a “Mariner and Schoolmaster” and says he died at sea.
Constantly used the spelling “TREFERRIN” in official records.
Lucretia Trefethen with a birthdate of 24 May 1763 shows up here on this page , on page 0598, on page 0843, and on page 0978. Not sure if this is a duplicate or error or just a coincidence
